FAQ

  • where do you do meetups?

In the canyons surrounding Salt Lake City, UT, including City Creek, Emigration, Neffs, and Big Cottonwood. The specific trail will change each time we meet but each clinician stays generally in the same canyon/area. We will send you trail info prior to meeting up.

  • how hard is the outdoor part?

Moderately hard. We know that can mean different things for different people so we’ll keep an open dialogue with you about pace. The goal is to build some heat and get the blood pumping but still be able to think and talk.

  • what about bad weather?

We get over in and get in it. We believe in building our comfort with the uncomfortable and this is one way we do it. Of course, we’ll take the necessary preparations to keep things safe like scheduling at the right time of day and making sure you have the proper gear.

  • how much does it cost?

    $250 per meetup.

  • do you take insurance?

We do not take insurance. We can provide superbills to clients reaching out to their insurance for out-of-network reimbursement.

  • what's your cancellation policy?

If you cancel within 48 hrs of your meetup, there’s a $75 cancellation fee. If you cancel within 24 hrs, we still charge for the meetup.

  • what about privacy?

We pick times and trails with low foot traffic. And of course, your clinician will keep all of your information private and monitor your surroundings. That said, if you’re not comfortable talking in a public space, Outdoor Talk may not be the right fit for you.

  • how long is a meetup? when do you meet?

60 minutes. Most of our clinicians do meetups early in the morning or later in the evening. See our team for exact schedules.

  • what should I wear?

Wear what you normally would to go hiking, snow shoeing, etc. We’ll warn you about any weather that would call for additional gear like tracks or poles. We do not provide gear.

  • what's the benefit to moving and talking?

Bilateral movement in the body shakes up your perspective, literally. See the science blog for more info.

  • what stuff can I talk about?

Stress, anxiety, depression, grief, relationship issues, divorce, life transitions, sexual issues, addiction, PTSD, and more. See our team for clinician-specific specialties.
